About the Ancient Egyptian Order of Sciots

The Ancient Egyptian Order of Sciots is a fraternal organization dedicated to brotherhood, charity, and the uplifting spirit captured in our timeless motto: “Boost One Another.”

Our story is rooted in both legend and history. The name Sciots traces back to the ancient island of Scio (modern-day Chios) in the Aegean Sea. In 1124 B.C., the Sciots were known for their deep love of freedom, equality, and cooperation. Living on a rugged island, they thrived by helping one another — working together to overcome challenges and building a community founded on trust, unity, and mutual support. This “League of Neighbors” spirit lives on in our organization today.

The modern Sciots were founded in 1905 in San Francisco, California. A group of Master Masons came together to form a social club where Masonic teachings could be lived out in everyday life. Originally called the “Boosters,” the group quickly grew in popularity for promoting friendship, service, and joyful fellowship outside the formal lodge setting. After several successful years — and to distinguish themselves from other groups — they officially became known as the Ancient Egyptian Order of Sciots in 1910.

Since then, the Sciots have expanded with Pyramids (chapters) across California, Illinois, and New Jersey. We focus on strengthening Masonic brotherhood, supporting public education, providing charitable aid, and offering vibrant, wholesome social events for members and their families.

At its heart, Sciotry is about lifting others up, building lasting bonds, and creating a positive impact — one act of kindness at a time.
